Did 170bhp Golf V5's ever come with 288mm carriers?

I recently won some carriers on eBay which were off a 2000 (W reg), 170bhp Golf V5. They have arrived but are 288mm carriers

Can anyone confirm whether or not the 170bhp models came with 288mm carriers because the guy is trying to tell me that it may have been a crossover model, which I don't really believe as surely the brakes couldn't have been either 288 or 312mm if it was a 170 model. It's not like something minor like door handle design or cup holders.

He's offered me a refund less postage, but I was sold these as 170bhp V5 carriers, which I thought they must be 312mm as I've also read they have the vented rears too.

According to the thread below, the V5 170 came with 312mm brakes, the V5 150 came with 288mm ones. Hope that helps.

Looking up discs for a V5, it could be either on earlier models, or 312mm only on 01 onwards.

Thanks jojo, I thought it was 312s for a 170.

Mikey, where did you lookup the discs? I looked on ECP but it just had 288s for either so didn't take much notice.

I used my electronic catalogue at work, as i work for a factors. Was with the supplier Apec.

Nope, 288s were on the 150hp not the 170
