Hi , i've just been given a second price for a new 2.0tdi 140 sportback - sport spec . Coming back to me a second time the dealer said that the best price he could give me worked out at around 7% . He said that he could not match the 'drive the deal price of around about 10.9% . I said i was sorry that he couldn't match the price , he said that he was sorry and we left it at that . Do you think it likely that he will come back again to match the offer or am i expecting too much discount ? I'd like to buy from my local dealer but equally want the best price and am a little reluctant to get from the internet - Has anyone had experience of 'drive the deal ' , thanks . :icon_thumright:

I`ve been trying to buy a new A3 Black Edition for two weeks now, on stock vehicles firstly i am being quoted 5%, that is for no p/x & paying for it with no finance.
Best i have been offered so far equates to about 9%, but that was on a very high spec car which had a retail of £28400.
Apparantley dealer allocations are tight right now, & it seems they aint too keen to give away what they have in stock.
Personally i would not buy from an agent, i would only use there quoted figures as a lever to beat a main dealer into submission.
I had a conversation with a sales manager @ an Audi dealership last week regarding internet figures, he tells me that agents quote low figures but there is usually a £500 set up fee / administration fee. Dont know if this is true, i have not taken it that far.
    Good luck.

I have just placed my order for a Black Edition Sportback 140 TDi with tech pack, comfort pack, interior light pack, black roof rails, folding leccy mirrors in Ibis white. Came in at £22600 - saving a massive £2800! I too spent weeks looking to better the deal - no chance! I even asked the dealer today... if I had come to you direct what would I have got! Their answer to me - nowhere near that much! My advice - go with drivethedeal! It's all above board! They take your deposit, then the dealer send you the paperwork to sign, bobs your uncle! And to boot, if you dont want it delivered (driven... what my brand new car - 200 miles up the motorway! No thanks!) They'll even put a tiger in the tank for ya! Best I got at my local Audi garage was an offer within £350 of the price above. All in all the discount with drivethedeal totalled 11.4%! Wow!

Go for it - procrastinate no longer - you'll only regret it when the price on their website goes up and your stuck between a rock and a hardplace kicking yourself that you didn't go for it! Downside is - I have to wait until October! Factory delays etc etc - at least it will be the 2011 model year though! Better for residuals...... apparently :$

When I bought my current 2.0TDI-140 I got 11% from my dealer. No hassle, no Drive the Deal etc. I have got a similar discount on the last few of my A3s. It pays to build up a relationship with a dealer if you think you may be buying more Audis in the future. I've used the same local dealer for all seven of my A3s and always got a got discount and a good trade-in.

    Back in 2008, I got 11% off my S3 from Bettercareal.co.uk
My local dealers would not give me a discount.
In my case, the Broker put me in contact directly with Audi Wimbledon. I did not pay the Broker anything but he did admit that the Dealer would give him a 1% bonus on completion of the deal.
It worked brilliantly for me and I will do it again.

Thanks guy's ! If i order through drivethedeal is it possible to add something that is not listed on there website . I wish to add the extended 2 year warranty which is not listed . What i don't want to do is place the order then be unable to add the extended warranty . I'm a little unsure as to how this whole drivethedeal thing works and don't want to be caught out . Also if i did manage to add this could i expect the same level of discount on the extended warranty , many thanks ?

I change about every three years, sometimes less. I usually have a look around at what else is on the market that is the same sort of car as an A3 and I have not yet found anything else I prefer. I also like the colour Silver and all my A3s have been silver but they have all been different in some way or another. The first four were original and facelifted 1.8T Sports. The next two were 2.0TDIs, one a PD140 and one a PD170 and my current one is a 2.0TDI-CR140 and has been remapped.

Assuming Audi don't ruin the A3 with the next release due late 2011 then my next car will probably be another A3!!!

When you select the model on their website click "order car", at the credit card details part then click the "enquiry only" button. Type in your request and they will get back to you. They're normally very quick as well. They will the liase with the dealer about any of your questions and come back to you with an answer. I dont think this will be a problem though.

I'm past the drivethedeal stage and now in contact directly with the dealer. I spec'd the interior light pack only yesterday after placing my order last week. Still considering full leather but am told there is no rush, only when the factory physically accepts and confrims the order to the dealer is it set in stone!

I don't know about the discount but I would imagine you'll save the same seeing as all the options are also discounted at the same rate. Have noticed the price for the Sportback to have gone up considerably since I ordered last week :-(

I will say that there seems to be mention of "hassle" with regards to DTD....I can't say I wasn't sceptical at first but I've not had anything like this at all.... they simply get commision from the dealer and don't take a penny from you directly, unlike places such as autoebid etc etc.

Best of luck! If you have any problems or you want any more help let me know :)

Got 11% in 2008 for mine. Bought through Autobytel who sourced the best deal. Only down side is you might have to travel depending on which dealership offers the best discount. I had to travel 50 miles to get my S3....fine by me for 11% when my local dealer offered nothing and wouldn't even match the price when I took the invoice in for them to see. Yet another reason why i travel the 50 miles when anything needs doing to the car!!!

Just done the same quote with drivethedeal as last night - it has now gone up around about £700 :blownose:is this normal , and is there a chance that the price will come down again . UKNEWCARS are still quoting around about the same as drivethedeal yesterday - £700 less , anyone any experience of this company , thanks .

I did notice that as soon as I ordered the price went up by nearly £900! As I said, I paid £22600 including nearly £2500 of options! Maybe get in touch with them and just mention someone else got a much better deal last week! You never know! You don't ask - you don't get!

Failing that, as splathead mentioned give this a spin: http://bettercardeal.co.uk/results_...AUDI&model=A3 Sportback&fueltype=D&bodytype=5

    Only coming in £100+

Motorlogix were the cheapest I could find for the S3. A straight 10% off new price ( excluding the delivery, road tax, etc ), plus 10% off all options. Car spec'd to over £33k, so they were offering £3k off. In the end went with the local dealer who offered £2k discount due to convenience of a decent trade-in.

Are all these brokers pretty much the same ie: drivethedeal / uknewcars / bettercardeal etc , etc ? I feel a little uneasy dealing like this but they do state that you will deal directly with the dealer and pay them directly - but i guess i'm a little worried that there is something in the small print .

Drive the deal have been trading for 13 years so I think. Regards the others, no direct experience but guys on here have used them e.g. bettercardeal.... if no-one has had any problems then what better recommendation! The net has taken over a lot of things in recent years. You don't actually hand over any money to a broker - it is all done via a dealer. The reason you give your card details to the broker is to protect their interest. They have spent a long time getting these sort of discounts and need to protect themselves. When I read the terms and conditions for DTD it stated that I will not divulge information of their supplying dealer - hence why I have not mentioned who it is! There was nothing dodgy whatsoever and I now, as mentioned have nothing to do with them....but simply a rather large Audi Mainstream dealer who sent me the order which I signed and sent back. I've been told they will keep me updated as to the progress of my car, i.e. when they're notified of a build week, production, shipping etc

An important thing to remember is that anything done over the net is protected by the distance selling regulations. You may cancel your order any time up to which you have physically paid the deposit. However... the company will always phone you to confirm the details before they place a solid order and before they take your money! If you can, always use a credit card for the transaction as well. You will probably be aware, but that affords you extra protection.

How do you find the remapped 140 against your previous 170 Dave?

Which remap have you got on it?

Best thing to do is clarify that before you order. That's what I did with DTD - they originally quoted Sept, but then when orders it went back to Oct / Nov.... i'm in no desperate rush for it though so i'm happy to wait - just hope it's worth it! :)
