    Hi all.

Been looking at a de-cat pipe on eBay for my 1.9tdi (130). It is only £56 plus postage. Just wondering if anyone on here has one fitted and if it has made any difference to how the performs?
My car has been remapped and I have an Allard EGR delete kit.

    Thanks.

Never really liked the idea of a de-cat on a diesel. My mate has had his taken off (1.9tdi 130 re-mapped) and his now smokes way to much!
Not only that, his performance hasn't increased at all.
What he does like though is that he can hear his turbo spooling a bit more. Lol.

I did mine and had exactly the opposite results
no smoke and the turbo spooled up ever so slightly quicker
decat on a diesel is only good in my experiance on various diesels .

Extra smoke i would have thought would come from the remap rather than a decat..... i appreaciate the cat is there to burn off some of the emmissions but i don't think it would go as far as removing smoke,,,, that comes from the extra fueling of the remap

my a4 tdi (130) has had the cat removed before i bought it and remapped with a front mount intercooler... to be fair it pulls like F@@K and goes well... but... it dont half chuck some soot out (badly) im putting it down to a bad map to be fair as my mates golf has been de-catted and remapped elsewhere and is fine.

Have you tried a fuel aditive to try and clean the injectors. There are a few reasons why it might be smoking, dirty injectors may be one of them.

Boost leak too.......mine was smoking after I changed the thermostat, but discovered it was the boost hose I disconnected at the joint to gain more access was not sitting properly home due to the big clip not being in correctly (my fault). Once that was corrected all black smoke disappeared.

Check all the hoses, especially the ones round the front mount intercooler.
