Dashboard Light

Can anyone help? The engine shaped light on my S3 dash keeps coming on and staying on for long perios of times (little yellow engine outline but I have noticed nothing wrong with the engine ... could this be electrical or do I have to pay attention to it?

I would take it to the dealer or to someone who has vagcom to check this out. The last thing you want to do is carry on driving and ignoring the light!
