Dashboard DIS repair 1997 car, none soldered display.

I was trying to replace the ribbon cable that I purchased from Pxelfix, but I still cannt get it to work.
The real problem is you cannot see the connectors on the display unless you hold it in the correct light
and then fix the cable to it.
Not sure if its the dark or light points on the display, its a real bitch to do as this is not soldered,
has anyone carried this repair out???
