    TT quattro 225 bhp.
The above car when bought a year ago was a problem free motor.
Sitting on 19 inch wheels it looked the buisness.

It all happened when i took it for 2 rear tyres as they both wore out to the wires on the inner edge.
I booked it in with a.b.p motorsport who did a 4 wheel alignment,i was told the car had been fitted with...Eibach springs, koni fsd shockers, neuspeed anti-roll bars.

As the car had been lowered and fitted with 19's i was told the rear camber/alignment could not be set 100% as the rear camber was way out.
The only option if i was to keep the car was to fit ''forge adjustable rear tie-bars'' which would allow the camber to be set up 100%.

They adjusted the best they could (so they said)
3 weeks later i was driving around the rounabout at around 20-25 mph (dont forget this is a 4 wheel drive ! ) the car did a full 180 degree spin and stopped with out hitting anything ! thank god! Since then ive had 3 more near misses, where the car only needs to go around a small bend in the road and it will snake...180 degree spin facing the other way.
A.B.P say it need the camber setting up properly.

But to be honest prior to having the 4 wheel alignment/camber adjusted, even though it was killing the tyres it drove and handled brilliantly! According to 2 different garages camber should not let the car spin out like that as its a 4 wheel drive ,lowered and haldex should help it stay in control.
I have access to vag-com and cant see any faults logged regarding the haldex system.....any one else come across this ?

You must really fit tie bars on all Mk1 TT with more than a 20mm drop ... Few people get away with it but not many ;)

I havent and mines fine with 30mm drop from eibach springs.

Sounds like you've put budget tyres on? Change them for goodyear F1's before you wipe out completely

I'd say that tie-bars would be the first thing you should do. If you're running anything over -2° camber at the rear then the whole car gets very twitchy.

The whole rear end is a problem when lowering and with the right mods can be sorted so that the rear Camber and Toe can have plenty of adjustment, If you are anywhere near silverstone I have a real professional who can set the geometry perfectly so long as you have Tie bars. If you supply the Tie bars he will fit the bars, modify the lower arms for adjustments and set the geometry with Beisbarth for around £200 labour.

With the Camber set properly you will notice the rear of the car feels much more planted and secure.
