I have a new problem on my VW Golf 1.4

When i brake to slow down and stop the car cuts out as if i stalled the car.

Any idea what this could be?

yeah idling sensor or something to do with idling, its basically going below the line for rpm for engine to continue to run so thus stalls, stick it on VAGCOM & check for errors.

Thanks for that mate, i had a feeling it was a sensor but thought it was something to do with the MAF. Best thing to do really is get hold of someone with a VAGCOM

Most likely temp sender, I had this on my A4, so much so I had to left foot brake to keep it from dying at every junction/red light.
One other bigger cause can be water pump starting to seize, putting extra load on idle speed. Hope it's not that. Temp sender is a DIY job and a £20 fix.

Had this also on my a6 checked all sensors and vagcom throttle body came up as a fault adjusted the throttle cable as there was a bit of play and now runs sweet.
