i remember seeing someone on here who sold custom made heat shields for the air filter...just cant remember who.

Just purchased a jetex to go with my new TIP...and dont fancy the MAF flopping about.

Any help? or other ideas on trying to secure it?

    Cheers

defo mate, you can get the sheet metal from b&Q about £15. the metal will be near curtain rails. don't bother asking staff as they don't even know they sell it. i went to 5 B&Q's and asked if they sold it they all said no even tho its on there website, i walked down every bloody aisle and found it whet and showed the fellow that i found it he just scratched his head. :keule:

The ones above have 3 sides covered where as Daves only cover 2 sides. The colour wont make much difference. It'll still stop most of the host air from around the engine getting sucked in.

I've go some 4" ducting from the fog grill to the air box also to get the cold air up there ;)

I will get there eventually, got Dave's one here, so see how it goes... I doubt my car will be making enough power to create enough heat to effect anything haha, I just got one to keep my Jetex still, just need to get over to Bill's for the 3" intake.

It is better than a cable tie for holding the filter still that's for sure. Joe, you are missing out not having a B5 TIP, they are amazing.

Hmm not sure in covering the base you will get fresh air from down there, heat rises and mine touches the bonnet on all 3 sides, look at a neuspeed heat guard etc.....

LOL! There's one on the classifieds for sale, I actually had the complete kit in my hands 10 days ago, but it was in black, I let it go to someone else, cos I wanted a blue one, but kept the Jetex filter. :)

When I got my Jetex filter I just cable tied it to the strut brace but then realised that the Jetex filter fits in the lower part of the standard airbox and being the cheap/lazy so n so I took the outer part of airbox casing and was able to secure it in to position heres a few pictures of how it looks.

    This is it in position
    [IMG]

This is it from the side

This is how it looks with the outer shell in place

This is how I have secured it in place by just using the screw that was already there

Hope this is any use to anyone!

Mine is 2mm you wont get that in no B&Q...i think they sell 0.8mm mild steel .. rubber panel trim ? ebay....i get mine from a commercial coach building co, minimum, 100 meters...
If you make your own tell me the size of rubber you want and i will forward you some....

    Just on B&Q website...they only seem to do either 500mm x 250 or 500 x 500 or 1000 x 500.

workings out from the DIY diagram shows i need approx 630 x 250mm

surely they must be able to cut the size i need???

as the larger sheet is well over £30. so not really DIY heat shield for under £20 lol

Didnt the DIY guide say the sheet was from Homebase? Without going back and looking.

Yeah did say homebase, but then went on to say he would use aluminium not steel. but had a look on homebase website and cant find either.

    But westy mentioned B&Q...

I think ill just order one from dave, because id even have to go buy a rivet gun too. so probably cheaper to just buy it from him. I'd imagine my attempt would be more shabby looking than a wet cardboard box anyway.

    cheers
