Cruise Control Sometimes Not Enabling

I've found the that my cruise control does not always re-enable after being disabled while driving.
The car is doing over 20mph but it will not enable or show what the speed the cruise control is set to.
It will not work until I switch the car off and back on again.

The car is booked in for a day's diagnostic at the garage.
I'm not sure why it will take a day to scan for a fault code.

Has anyone else had this trouble with cruise control?

I took the car to garage to have a look at the issue and there was a software update for the cruise control.
The problem of it not engaging didn't produce a fault code so not sure why it was happening.

The only noticeable change I can see since the software update is that when decreasing the speed set on the cruise control the car slows down more aggressively.

My mates rs4 done this and turned out to be a faulty brake switch under the pedal.
