My car developed a creaking back end, had the garage look to see if anything was wrong they couldn't see any issues. It doesn't need much of a weigh change to get a noise out of it, sounds like creaking springs and they only make a noise when they decompress? More annoying than anything.

Does anyone have any ideas? Both sides on the rear are affected?

How old are your shocks....could be sitting on the springs?

The shocks are as old as the car, they don't look like they are leaking or anything, it's just been through and mot so I would assume they would have picked up on it if there was anything wrong

MoT only covers leaks, damage and rot.
If you pull them off the resistance will be mostly gone passed 75K miles...just my experience...then the rear end sits on the springs
If your 2WD then the rear axle bushes are another thing to look at.

These both passed MoTs
