My wife's Lexus suffered a shattered wing mirror, as a result the phosphoric gel which is used to dimm the mirror in bright light has leaked out and stained the door with green patches. I managed to clean most of off using just a damp soft cloth but there's still visible traces all over the door. According to Lexus the only solution is a respray!!!
Has anyone ever seen or resolved this problem before?

We've not seen this problem before, but I'm still surprised that a respray has been suggested - odd that the liquid in question is so corrosive! If it's just a case of staining, and deep etching has not been caused, then I would want to try and polish it out first; removing a few microns from the surface of the paint might do the trick. Of course, this all goes out the window if the stain is visibly deep and can be seen to have etched deeply into the finish. Does the stain/damage look surficial or much deeper to you?
