As in the title guys, found a coolant leak recently, not massive but over the course of 6-8 weeks it drops from max to just below min, also found water on the undertray when I removed it earlier this week.
having had a good old snoop with my led endescope I can see water leaking from a joint section just behind the top of the block, checked with parts diagram and it looks to be part 44, so I've ordered it along with O-rings, it may just be the actual seal or seals that are dripping but at £8.00 plus the vat seems bonkers not to replace the whole part.
I assume this part is attached to the block and water coolant passes throught it into block or vise-versa judging by the diagram.
Now the bigger question, this llooks to be a real pain to replace due to lack of access, is there a prefered method of removal/refit or just a struggle and swear at it plan, any info or thoughts chaps would be nice.

I had a cunning plan chap, why don't we just flip a coin to decide who should tackle the job first...lol.
Its not a stock part and none in uk stock at present so mines coming from the factory, so since I have ordered the part I suppose I best go first then.
From web searches I have done thus far it does appear to be a very common problem, but not seen any other cases on this forum, maybe a lot have the problem but choose to live with it or just ignore it until its really bad then take it to a garage to be fixed.

I have the same leak too. Looks like a right pain to do! Some point in the future il be doing or getting done the timing chain so I think that's when il be tackling the replacement.

well had another look at the problem and its deffo coming from the flange , not sure wether its an o-ring or just a hose leaking, either way its a real pain in the posterior to get at let alone change.
still to find a decent video of the repair either, may get a quote to get it done by my local specialist just to save the hassle and twisted fingers and knuckles...

Ok so it seems that its not that uncommon. Coolant Hose Flange part 44 or 06D121132c cracks with age or the seals fail. Part cost £8.76, Seals £1.75
But.. its a real pain to change!
With 2 hours labour, parts and coolant - £199.84 !

yep, that's what I was told chap, I have the parts ready to fit but have decided to wait for a while longer and get it done when I have my dual mass flywheel /clutch replaced in the new year, a very easy job with the bell housing out of the way.
thanks for the info tooty.

Ohhhh you're going to enjoy this one! It took me 3 days, lots of prayers, and a massive amount of cursing! Let alone the cuts on my hands and arms. If you're going to do it my advice you also change the heater hose.

Yep, its a knuckle scraper and arm twister indeedy.
At least its done now, another job well done.:icon thumright:
