Does anybody know whether a W-reg Golf 1.4 16v would be using coilpacks?

A friend of ours is having problems with her car and it sounds like typical coilpack symptoms - stalling, lumpy running, hesitation etc.

How long is a typical VW warranty? Is it 3 years like the Audi ones?

I doubt it would use coilpancks to be honest... but i may be wrong!

As far as I know, they use single, or 2 coils (on wasted spark principle) with conventional leads.

Sounds more like air flow sensor, but not worth playing either way, just see if you can get diagnostic codes first.

VW and Audi have the same warrenty.

I don't know about a W-reg but my mate's R-reg 1.4 16v polo hasn't got individual coil packs but a single one with a distributor.

Best way to tell is to see if there is a distributor bolted on to the right hand side of the head.
