    Im considering buying a fault code reader for my a6 2.5tdi auto ,but find the choice a bit bewilldering,any advice on what i would need to give comprehensive cover on this car would be grately appreciated.

    Depends how serious you are about investing and how much you want to spend. I can highly recommend VAG-COM from http://www.ross-tech.com

    Yes it is expensive but you really can do an awful lot with it IMO.

    I agree with Issac, you can't beat the genuine VagCom interface. If however you don't have a laptop or its out of your price range then check out the Gendan web site. They have a range of different priced code readers as well as being an official agent for VagCom and come highly recommended
