So I just had the pleasure of having to drive to Swinedon, on the way i think my clutch slipped. I tryed to boot out of a steep junction, got some power, kept my foot in it, the revs rose and it grabbed it about a second or two later. As I went up the hill I was greated by Eau de Clutch but with no further problems I said sorry to the car, stroked the steering wheel and thought no more of it.

But on the way back I had a motorbike up my chuff off a round about on to a dual carriage way, I was overtaking so revved hard in third got past the car in the slow lane, changed to sixth and went to pull over to let the lairy barsteward go and the revs stayed high for a few seconds and then dropped to just under 3k.

I have since tryed booting from 2nd and going through some of the gears to see if it will slip again but it hasn't which is good.

The problem is the clutch was replaced in July 2010! Do you think this is the beginning of the end for the clutch or just a funny five minutes?

Never had it happen before so your thoughts/experiences would be good, Ill have to drive like a grandad till after the power tests :eyebrows:

Check it in 5th and accelerate hard from 30mph. If it slips, it's dead :(

Sounds like a funny 5 mins dude - keep an eye/foot on it over the next few weeks and see what happens.

Max load on the clutch at that point - will highlight problems.

I might let it cool down properly and try it tomorrow lol, but cheers chaps I'll give it a check.

I'll have to add it to the list if its a problem as the hybrid will probably destroy it if its on the way out haha

I see the excuses are coming out already Dane and the airfield isn't even booked yet ;)

I had a funny issue last year in the summer on a really hot day. I nailed it onto a roundabout from standstill chasing down a Corrado G60 and the clutch just slipped and slipped and slipped. I didn't go anywhere and it stunk. It's not done it again since and I've launched it and all sorts!!!

My OEM clutch used to slip while pulling off from steep hills... never slipped on normal operation though...

If your clutch was done last year, unless you are a loony it should be fine, id be more worried about contaminates like clutch fluid on the plate, check your levels...
or do you ride the clutch on a hill in traffic? it might have got shiney and needed a burn off.
