Clutch Pedal Switch Issues...

My car started revving between gear changes, unplugged the clutch pedal switch gave it a clean and put it back and the problem stopped instantly, but a day later it was playing up again. Fitted a new switch today but no change??!! I'm 99% sure the problem is switch related as it seems to directly affect the performance whenever a mess with it. But i cant seem to cure the problem permanently, is there a 'correct' way to install the switch, ignition on/off, clutch pedal depressed or not?
