Clutch gone

    So looks like my clutch has gone, well the slave cly, how much am I looking at??:crying:

    I bought a clutch for £90 from GSF... fitting is the major chunk of cost... 4 or 5 hours at least I think...

    If you need a new dual mass flywheel then thats another £250 ish on top

    yep i got quoted the best part of £1000 to replace clutch and flywheel as audi say its a 8 hours job. Ring around local audi specialists and get some quotesiv heard of people getting it done for £600 on s3

    Oh well that sucks! At least you can fit yours, I wouldn't have a clue. Its in with my local garage at the moment, just waiting for a quote, what would be a good alternative place to have it done, swindon or south of.

    it's done 110,000 now ... apart from this it is in really good condition.

    its a good 8 hrs work to access the slave cylinder alone, and while you ar there you just as well change the flywheel and clutch

    Ooh first post - My slave cylinder went and it was about £250 to get fixed by Audi. I was only on about 80k at the time and was miles from home. Had to get the AA to relay me home!

    Wait, so if its just the slave and I can get that done for £250 do i have to spend 8 hours putting a new clutch in? Did Audi just replace the slave??

    What engine/car do you have?

    The S3/A3 TQS (quattro)needs to have the box removed to fit the slave cylinder

    The clutch and flywheel take no more that an addiional half hour-hour tops when the box is off to do the slave. If you can get it done for £250, that's quite cheap, but get the clutch checked at the same time to save labour changes

    At the time I had a 2000 X reg Audi S3 (APY). I have since sold the car so I cannot check the details, but from what I remember they said the seals had gone in the slave cyl. No hydraulic pressure means clutch didn't engage. At the time my Audi garage charged about £90 per hr.

    This is what I thought, surely if they have to have the box off anyway to get to the slave cylinder it will cost more than £250?

    You can get complete clutch kit for 150 at euro car parts, LUK brand, this is what audi would fit for you.
