My friend lives about 20 miles away from an audi dealer, the clutch is slipping in his car so i thort id give him a hand in to fitting it,like me ''genuine parts'' are a must have.

I gave 3 audi dealers a ring local to me for clutch and flywheel, i thort id pick 1 up for him......same story at all the dealers

Clutch and flywheel must be removed first in order to find out if its 'sachs or luk' !:wtf: so i cant buy until cars stripped down ! and we can only do it one evening or a sunday....... SO is there anyway of finding out if car has LUK OR SACHS ?

Are you sure there not just thick parts guys, gonna email my guys & ask as they seem to be the nads at these things, vin input blanks out all parts not used on your car anyway in etka, so wtf they on, cant believe that, not saying you're lying mate, just find it hard to believe.

Found it hard to beleive myself ! all 3 gave me the same answer! They said thats how we do it,strip down then get the part,i told em thats ridiculous,i thort they didnt want me to know so the car gets booked into them, but after ringing 2 audi dealers and a vw dealer(who said the same) i thort id bring this to the guys on here.

They are interchangeable, the thing is LUK flywheels had a design flaw wich allowed grease to contaminate the clutch. They did not have a recall, just replaced "like for like". Rummour is that LUK improved the design on the new flywheels and they are now better than the Sachs ones ? I would still fit a sachs clutch and flywheel as i never had one failing on me cars, i have seen just Luk ones failed !

hey tdi-man, where did you find was the best place to get the replacment from, my Flywheel has gone, and according to ETKA i have a LUK. I'm debating on whether to change the clutch also as i've heard the clutch isn't the part that goes wrong, and the cluth on the DSG A3s is pretty solid.

    What do you rekon?

Urrrmmmm this has got me thinking now as I am noticing a distinct difference in sounds when in gear & not, sounds that are certainly not normal, will investigate further.

    Sure, PM me your VIN.

    tdi-man:
Did you fit the parts yourself? Am i able to fit a new Flywheel without changing the clutch, as changing a perfectly working clutch seems pointless.

    Cheers

And to those who also have problems, make sure yours hasn't been recalled yet.

Anyone want to group together and see if Audi do any good will as its so common?
