clutch bit in a4

    Is it normal for the clutch to have a high take up, also the car seems to overun on gear changes.
    engine is 1.8 chassis is b5 ts

    Very normal to have a high biting point. Its a common trait with the A4. Mine is exactly the same.

    does anyone find it quite 'notchy'? Especially engaging 1st...

    The gearing might be notchy in first but not the clutch.

    However the clutch is higher grabbing which i have come to like over the years

    The gear box of both my B5 S4 and RS4 were/are a tad notchy from time to time. Its not uncommon. Some dealers were giving some memebers of this web site and others a load of BS on 'special oil' Which strangely enough didn't cure the prob!

    As for the clutch yeah they are relatively high. As for the overrun I've found most modern engines tend to hold onto the revs too much for my liking.
