    Hi

    Quick question for the boffins.

2001 BAM S3, the climate control unit buttons are scratched out as i think the previous female owner had long, hard nails. Works fine but looks bad with the backlighting just looks like a splat rather than the + and - etc.

I can find a complete unit on ebay (70 - £100), but I have heated seats and on my car the unit incorporates the seat heat setting wheels, the ones on ebay, do not.

Question is, do I have to get the exact unit or can the heated seat wheels be easily cut in or might there be pushouts for them? I could just buy a standard one and try to swap the buttons only but seems a messy and expensive way to do it.

    Thanks in advance :)

Try these guys, www.nirro.co.uk (VW/Audi Breakers in Beckton) I picked up a mint replacement for £120, they have a box load of various climate control panels. make sure you tell them the exact part no and mention if its from double or Single DIN centre console otherwise it wont fit.

I literlly just need one button (fan speed) The rest are in really good condition - as is the console. Do i have to get the whole new unit if i want to replace this one button - or can i get the button on its own?

As I said in your thread mate, you need to buy the unit. You could swap the buttons over, or just sell your old one if you wanted to. If you wanted to go halves on the cost, I am after a number of other buttons as well?

I know the one you are looking at, 149.99 BIN right? No it wouldn't work. You need to contact the company in this thread, they will supply the correct coded unit.

Maybe this is one area where the pre facelift wins. All the buttons on my X reg are as good as new :)
