    Hey,

I've noticed that a fair few of you guys are rocking Black upper / lower grille surrounds, are you buying them? if so where from or are you painting them yourselves?

Hey mate, I think you can buy them off ebay but I did mine myself with no experience in painting / spraying in my whole life and I was pleased with the results!

All I did was buy some Hammerite Black Satin Metal 2 Rust spray from Halfords £9.99 and a sanding pad. Removed grilles (real easy DIY job) and scrubbed them with the pad. Then followed the instructions on the spray and left in the Gragae for 24hours and job done! Brilliant results for less than £15.00!!!

I'll dig out my pictures and post them for ya!

    Best wishes

    Chris

PS.I should point out you will need to remove the silver parts from the grille itself along with the rings if you want to do them as well - they all unclip but be careful doing it as the clips are delicate. The sanding is just to help smooth the surfaces down.

I did this, so that I can return the car to standard if needed. I bought some 50mm electrical tape and used it on mine, it was easy to do, and lasted very well - it gives you a good idea of how it looks without committing yourself by spraying.

Spraying is a very straight forward job as mentioned, getting to the wrong time of year though.

I've got two complete upper grilles (not for a cabby) which I've sprayed and never used, if anyone is interested in having one let me know.

Yeah definately wrong time of the year! Can't agree more - too much rubbish on the road - I've chipped the paint on my grille at the weekend so I've got to respray it but I think I will wait until after winter as I'm sure it will happen again!
