Went looking for something useful, but all I could find that was anywhere close was S3 CXY (Coxy as I often get called). They (Regtransfers) want about £3k for it. As it's unlikely I'll have another S3 it's too much dollar.

All the S3 plates I want are long gone. I see more S3 plates on non Audi's than anything else. Gutting.

Warren, would you be interested in getting a Northern Irish cherished reg?

Over here we don't have the year or 56/57/58 etc... on our reg's - it is a bit messed up

    For example

    FNZ 1925
    UKZ 3420 etc...

But you can also get reg's which have 1, 2 or 3 numbers instead of the standard 4 like on most cars - these cost a little bit more.

My reg is AEZ 90, the letters do not mean anything to my name, car or anything, it is just a cherished reg - these can cost anything from £500-1000 depending on seller, time and number. Usually 10's or double number (eg 22,33,11 etc..) are more expensive.

In my opinion, they look a lot better than model specific number plates, or names, or initials and they are easily obtained for anyone in the UK

check out www.myregni.co.uk for some of the plates that are available privately

Hmmmm, Boydie you're a genius mate. i'd never really considered this option.

If I could get COX 53 I would be incredibly interested!

I know that's being horribly optimistic, but aim for the stars and you may hit the top of the tree!! Is there a main NI DVLA site for numbers available on mass?

If you google Wilsons Auctions they are a company over here that have online buying and auctioning of cherished reg's.

You can buy mainly the 3 digit reg's online because the 2 digits seem to fetch more money, therefore the single digits fetch even more.

In my opinion, the reg's in the link i posted above are over priced - you can get a decent 2 digit reg over here now for £500-£700

eg UCZ 24 sold the other day for £540 transfered!

There is no COX reg here in NI but will try get you a list of all the reg catagories!

I was lucky as well, got an S3 plate with my initials for £240 . First bit of good luck for a long time. Normally if it wasn't for bad luck I would have no luck at all

These are the older letter endings for Northern Ireland - you just stick A-Y on the front of the 2 letters that are already there. At the minute, Londonderry is NZ, Belfast I think is FZ but not sure what all the latest ones are!

    County codes in alphabetical order
    A bit of history:

Northern Ireland continues to use the system initiated for the whole of Ireland in 1903, with two-letter county and city codes featuring the letters I and Z. The full list of codes appears below.
As in Great Britain, each code originally ran from 1 to 9999, and when one was completed, another was allocated. All possible codes had been allocated by 1957, following which reversed sequences were introduced, the first county to do so being Antrim in January 1958 with 1 IA.
These reversed sequences were completed quickly, leading to the introduction of the current "AXX 1234" format in January 1966, where "XX" is the county code and "A" is a serial letter. This format allowed capacity to be increased. Each county adopted it once they had completed their reversed sequences, the last one to do so being County Londonderry in October 1973 with AIW 1.
From November 1985, the first 100 numbers of each series were withheld for use as cherished registrations. From April 1989, the numbers 101-999 were also withheld in this way. Even multiples of 1000 and 1111 ("four-of-a-kind") are deemed cherished by the Driver & Vehicle Agency (DVA) in Northern Ireland and thus withheld. Each series ends normally at 9500, and the remaining numbers are used mostly for security type re-registrations.
While motorists with vehicles registered in Great Britain are permitted by the DVLA to use number plates carrying Euro-style bands with UK national flags and country codes instead of the Euro symbol and "GB", officially, the DVA specifies only the Euro symbol with the country code "GB".[17]
The DVA are considering adopting the seven character system (area code+age identifier+random letters) currently used in Great Britain,[citation needed] using I as the first letter, e.g IC60 ABC (no confusion could be made with 1 as it would be followed by another letter).
Northern Ireland number plates are used often in Great Britain as vanity plates to hide the age of an older vehicle cheaply; this is particularly noticeable on private hire coaches.
