    Dear all,

I have rubbish radio reception for the last few weeks. Just got round to changing the aerial base (ordered the part from VAG parts).

Thought i'd put up some photos of the water damage / rubber corrosion.

    (this is from a 4 yr old S3 - RUBBISH !!)

You can see corrosion in the bottom corner... circuits fried !

my did the same, my aerial was fine but the rubber looked a little dodgy. The new aerial base was a better design. The acutual PBC sat inside between the roof & lining. Rubber caps sits on the bolt outside & job done.

I had the later aerial with the PCB inside the car and it was in perfect condition when I replaced my FM aerial for a GPS one.

Hey Dude, do you have the part number for the part you replaced?
Also a brief guide on changing it would be awesome!
    Cheers.

Anyone fitted one of the brand new S3 aerials to an old S3?

Sorry mate i dont have the part number. I contacted VAGPARTS & ask for a whole new unit rather than the repair kit. Drop them a mail & see what they say well worth getting hold of the newer unit much better though out design.

Fitting is a piece of cake. Remove the rear map lights access is through the hole & un-bolt the old unit. Installl & bolt in the new unit, i applied sealant from the outside before placing the rubber cap on.
