    Rang Many companies

Who will provide a decent quote for an S3 under 25? Who who there is in a similiar scenario?
Are there any specialists, who will look at in this situation within reason?

Have you tried confused.com and moneysupermarket.com? These cover loads. I think Adrian Flux is used by some people for performance cars.

but booth S3 there is a difference in risk between a 3-4 yea old S3 and a brand new £27k+ one - value of a car influences the premium more than you think sometimes

I'd be surprised if any quotes for you david are reasonable due to your age and the cost of your car to your spec, its around 31k isn't it?

Not many companies will want to risk paying this sort of cash out without charging you stupid insurance.

I had a quote for an (old) S3 (valued at £12k), for £1500 fully comp, with Admiral.

I'm 20, one years NCB, electrician/student, average area, £250 excess

When getting quotes in your own name (as you should), try adding your parents (specifically your mother) as a named driver. Remarkably, it sometimes reduces the quote.

Wow isn't insurance expensive for you guys! Just renewed mine £331 (170TDI) with esure, and was gutted for not getting under £300 but I'm 32 w/7yrs ncb.

Agree adding a female driver will almost always reduce it. My insurance was cheaper when I added my wife the day she passed her test... how that's less risk I don't know...

Try Brentacre insurance, they do a good price but you'll need 1 yrs no claims bonus I think

its nothing to do with a women being added to the policy, almost all premiums come down when you add your partner (if they live at the same address. Something to do with how insurance is worked out.

I am 31, 5+ years NCD (with protection) and I stilll pay £660 on my S3. Thats a special policy for the owner and only driver (adding someone to the policy will add £1k to the premium for me)

southpaw66 - I can just beat that. £329.99 with NU Direct for my A3. Mind you I am 59 and with maximium protected NCD. But I do have 6 points on my licence (bloody speed camera vans !). It will be interesting to see if it increases when I change it to my new 2.0TDI-170 Sportback in March.

David M - £3500 for a year's insurance. Now you can see the importance of building up you own NCD, but adding you Mum to the policy may make some difference - providing, of course, that she can drive !

Without question the cheapest insurance is with Elephant!

I swear by them, every time my friends are looking for insurance I always recommend Elephant and they are always the cheapest, but you have to set it up correctly.

Follow these steps and I bet you get the cheapest price!

First use elephant.co.uk auto quote tool to price up your quote using the tips I've outlined below(Use this tool to play with the different setting to get everything right). Then once you are done and are happy with the quote and you have decided to use elephant, give them a call on the phone (this is important)

Profession: make it as posh sounding as possible without lying:
example: if you are a web designed say your a computer programmer. its the same thing just better sounding, (this saved me £20)

Parking Oh course garage is best. But get it off the street if you can.

Insurance Class This is important if you have a company car and/or another car. You may not need commuting and social cover! There are 4 different types you can have .i.e. Business class 1, 2 etc (ask the operator to explain the difference between these... I cant remember)

Mileage Work out exactly how much mileage you do a year. Always quote them with your lowest estimate! (you can always top the mileage up later for a small fee)

Additional Driver You would think that by adding a additional driver to your policy it would increase the premium. To my surprise it lowers it by a hell of a lot with elephant! The ideal additional driver is Female that has been driving more then 5+ years, good NCB and 30+ and has access to another car i.e. your wife or girlfriend. (or you mum if she lives at the same address, not sure it would work if the address was different)

Pay full amount Pay the full amount off in one go, also ask the operator if they could ask there manager for a discount as your going to take the policy straight away (this normally gets me between £80-£100 off) however this normally only works when you renew the policy with elephant.

Brake Down If you have a new car or already have cover make sure that they have removed this from your policy and they will leave it on unless you ask (Should be able £30 saving)

Excess We all know about this one... it can be a right bitch if you are under 25 as they slap on a additional amount. Do what ever you think you can afford if you have a smash.

I pay £1080 for my 3.2, I'm 25, 5NCB, NCB protection, Car on the drive, North London post code, Business Class 1, 4000 Miles, Computer Programmer, With my wife as a additional driver, £150 excess, 3 points

The average price i got from everyone else was £2000 with the highest being £3.8k LOL

    Hope this helps!

Only because there standard Excess on their website is a horrendous £500.00 ;) It's a bit cheeky really; because all people see a cheap price and give their Card details straight away...
