central locking remote problem

Hi I have an November 2005 Audi A4 SLINE SALOON the remote locking has stopped working and several attempts to re code the key fob have failed.I am told there may be a fault with the central convenience comfort module.
Does anyone know where this is located ? There seems to be conflicting advise I would appreciate any help on this please (especially a photo or two).

I know it's a different model but likely to work in a similar way. See my update regarding how I fixed the issue. It's worth a try and may save you some pennies rather than taking it to a dealer

Think mine mite be the same sometimes I go out to the car and fob does not work then as soon as I put key in ignition it works again
