in my ongoing issues with my car....discovered a new one.
pump runs for a good 30 seconds on entry

boot lock doesnt always open on fob and has to be opened manually with key. after I have done that it seems to work fine.

    1) could a sticky mechanism be stopping the pump from cutting off as it cant open the boot lock.?
    2) how does the pump know to stop pumping?
    3) would a leak in the boot line be able to cause this?

    4) should I torch this fecking thing and take the £5k it is insured for!?!?!?!?

You have a vacuum leak, and if you dont sort it pronto the impeller in the pump will shatter.

Pump stops pumping once it reaches a desired vacuum pull, or after a timeout if the vacuum pull never happens.

You'll need to trace round the vac lines and look for a leak. Given the dodgy boot, it might be an idea to start there.
