Central Locking Pump - Does It Need Coding In ?

as title, or are they plug and play between different A3's.

As far as I know they are not. As I bought a replacement pump a while back and plugged it in. It didn't work. So I transferred the pump from the replacement one to the circuit board and case from my old one and it worked.

its the circuit board parts that would need coding though (to the remote locking part), the pump would work off the key (not remote part) and the door lock switch on drivers door card
