What does this button on the pillar do?

Finally, any usual reasons why the alarm goes off every time I lock it?

    Thanks

It turns of the interior motion sensor so that you can lock the car and the alarm won't be set off by a dog or a wife if they are still inside. Could be the batteries in the alarm siren, does it ever give four short pips when you go to start it?

Well if it is the siren, removing it will allow the system to work normally with the immobiliser still doing its job. You'll need a ten mil. spanner to undo the nut on the back of the siren, should be one in the tool tray? I found it easier by slipping the foam casing off the central locking pump and disconnecting and taking it out to give a bit more room.

Clear your codes, then wait until the alarm goes off then rescan.

That way you should only have one "Alarm Triggered by" code which tells you what set it off.

It is alarm sensor on right side located behind post trim between door and back window. Maybe wire is just unplugged.

Your central locking pump could get wet so it is the time to have a look it.
