Hi Guys, Ever since I've had my audi I have always downloaded music on itunes and burnt to a cd to put in the car. Over the last few weeks I have occasionally been getting error 2 (cd unreadable) on the display, however now it simly will not read any of the CD's I have made. It will still read purchased CD's fine.

Has anyone had the same problem or got any ideas on what might be causing it?

Was thinking of trying a cd lens cleaner but never needed one of these ever so cant imagine it will do much good!

Yeah i have found this too using iTunes sometimes, all i do is burn them at the slowest setting possible or failing that burn them with Nero using it's burn audio CD function and always finalise the disk so it's been closed, ie no further writing possible to the disk.

Aiden, do you burn as MP3 or as normal CD files?

I download the songs as the MP3 file format then burn to the CD so it plays in a normal CD player IE non data MP3 compatible.

The same as me then, I will try burning them again on the slowest setting. It just seems weird that I've never had the problem before.

    Audi gremlins methinks!

Try using a different piece of burning software? Have you had a bash with Windows Media Player or Nero?

First though i'd try the slowest setting burn.

Same here - when mine does it sometimes makes the spinning noise when I turn the engine off for a few seconds.

If you're having problems on bought CDs then I would say either you have an absolutely filthy laser, or the laser is knackered.

Best way is to slip the unit out of the dash (take any disc out first). Take the top off (about 4 screws) then use a cotton bud with meths on it and give the laser a good rub. You'll be amazed at the muck that comes off.
