The Carbonio kit comes in two parts - part one is the filter, enclosure and connection up to the MAF sensor and costs £263. Part two is the pipe from the sensor down to the turbo and is £178 - I have the full kit so its quite expensive.

I was originally going for the Forge Twintake but my car has the newer MAF sensor which does not work with the current Twintake. I spoke to Forge and they are planning to 'maybe' do another version but they could give no time line so I moved on. Next was the VW Racing CAI which was waiting to go into production up until a few weeks ago - I spoke with VWR and was ready to order the kit but then THEY mentioned the APR Carbonio (I had discounted this having read the indifferent feedback on the net). When we talked about the differences between both kits VWR said if I was really looking to eek every last ounce of performance then the VWR CAI was better, if on the other hand I didn't race and wanted something that 'looked' a little more factory fit then go with the Carbonio in normal day to day driving there was very little in it. The VWR kit is £440 whilst the complete Carbonio is also £440 and having budgeted for the VWR anyway I went with the full Carbonio. Interestingly VWR and APR share the same offices in Milton Keynes.

Really lovely kit, and much better than the earlier model I had back in 2007 which was basic duct and intake head and panel filter.

Can very much see the sense in moving the MAF well away from above the turbo as it is on our cars, where it's located on your car makes far more sense. I've always wondered if the ambient heat it's exposed to in the bulkhead right above the turbo has any effect on it's accuracy.

    Looks gorgeous, spot on!

On the way - I'd imagine most blokes wouldn't get caught dead in an A3 Cabrio as its a bit too 'girlie' and as this is the Audi target market I wouldn't expect that customer segment to be in the 'modding' crowd so you're not gonna see many modded Cabs. Anyway I prefer the lines of the cab (if only it had been tin top coupe - perfect !!) compared to the other 'hatchback' A3/S3 models and I'm happy to hang with my sistas !!!

Nah I'm not one of those guys, just the rear lights ruin the cab.

The rear end itself is fine. It's the LEDs which are the problem. Look like a fake version of the SBs'. But nice to see your modding one, yours is the most tinkered with cab on the forum for sure!

    Good choice.

I have the same apart from the pipe! That's the next thing for me to do.
