CAR WONT START! PLEASE HELP!!!

alright guys,

have an a3 98' 1.6, just tried starting her n she wont!! The car is turning over but just wont spark in to action. There are also no battery warning or engine management lights etc. showing on the dash. Headlights, and interior lights and the dashboard lights for these are working fine. Took to audi n wer gonna charge me £200 just to find out what was wrong (2 hours x £100 per hour labour).

Please can i have your suggestions??

Sounds like it could be crank sensor gone, also check your fuses for fuel pump.

I had a similar problem, the fuelpump had gone...

Had the same problem with mine, 2 week's ago it was the crank speed sensor. Which seems to be a common problem with the car's.
I also wrote a thread on here, and the people on here were really good.

1st step is to order a vagcom lead from ebay there about £10, that will come with software that will plug from your laptop to your car via usb and it will run a diagnostic on the car and come up with fault codes that relate to the problem, just to make sure of the problem before changing everything on your car and to save you money.

Its alot cheaper than going to audi, but can take some time waiting for it to be delivered and getting it running on your pc/laptop properly.
Once you have it up and running and have found out the fault codes post them on here and most people on here will tell you the problem straight away.
