Is it possible to get a new key so that can swap over key blade, transponder, rubber button on remote fob so to make it look newer?

I'm sure someone on this forum has a b7 key fob configured to work with his b6.

I have a B7 fob working with my B6. You have to have the right version of B7 Fob, the glass immobiliser transponder capsule has to be be transferred and then a new blade has to be cut as the B7 version is a different size to the B6.

Once that is done you have to re teach your car all your remotes available with VCDS

Sounds too painful for now moving over to the b7 fob, but can it be swapped round to new b6 case, ie is transponder ok to remove and touch
Can the key be swapped around?

    Yes is can be done.

if its your only key i strongly advise against removing the transponder, if it breaks your car wont start.

Pm me your reg and chassis details if you would like a quote for a complete new spare key.

How fragile are the transponders or sensitive to being touched?

    Thanks

Just had a look on youtube
    Seems straight forward enough

Any b6 owners have the key fob with the chrome bottom edge?

most people use nail varnish remover to soften the glue so the transponder can be easily removed. A new case will cost you a few quid off Ebay. Just make sure you buy 1 that holds the correct type of battery

I've done both my keys to B7 ones, i found the best way to remove transponder was heating with a heat gun and then simply popped out with a pick tool underneath, just a quick one to note,if you do decide on the B7 route not all ccm's are compatible, i had to put a later version one in mine but all in all a straight forward mod.

I have a great write up on this mod from Audizine in my subscribed threads but can't seem to post a link to it from my phone.
