I want to clean my fuel system to try and cure abit of diesel smoke on start up! I will be using diesel purge. I will hook it up to the fuel lines and run it neat. But i read somewere you need to rev it to get abit of heat to get rod of the carbon. So my question os can i rev it without any damage? Thanks

Yep, I connected a can of it in the engine bay & drove round with it for 20 mins as normal. Once pulled over I held the rpm at 2k, 3k, 4krpm respectively for 30 seconds each time before then letting the engine sit at idle for another 30 seconds (in between each rev step) I then repeated this process 5-6 times.

Bearing in mind my injectors & entire top end are barely 5k miles old, the crud that came out was immense. As a precaution the engine oil was changed 10 miles later to irradicate the chance any purge or dislodged crud had found its way into the lube system.
