Can anyone offer advice on a Sony HU in an Audi A3?

Hi, I have just installed a Sony MEX-BT3800u in my 2006 Audi A3. My local car audio 'specialist' identified my car as having a fully amped Bose system, but when I couldn't get the unit to work properly I realised that they had given me the wrong adapter. A nearby well know car accessory outlet corrected this mistake identifying the car as having a rear amped system, and installed the unit for me. However, the sound quality isnt as good as before, the front speakers dont deliver much bass and i have to fade the system to the rear to get a balanced sound. Is this normal? And can anyone suggest some settings for the sony hu which will allow me to make the most of my speakers?
Also, despite having an aerial amplifier (autoleads pc5-136) installed, i get very weak if not non-existent radio reception. the blue power wire to the signal booster is wired into something, how can i check that it is wired into the right output from the hu, and if it is, what else could cause this problem and how can i rectify it.

The RCA input adapters are the same for fully amped or half/rear amped (unless you are using the garbage speaker input adapter), you just don't get front RCA's on the rear amped cable.
Yes you will have to fade to rear. You have 2 x 50w+ from the HU going to the fronts and a feeble 2 x 20w from the Nokia amp going to the rears. Rewire the rears directly to the HU to redress the balance, but this will effect the level of the "subwoofer" as it runs off the rear pre-outs as well. If you have a sub pre-out on the Sony then use that to feed the sub and push the level up to max.
Check the aerial amp adapter flying lead is going to the power antenna lead on the HU

where is the amp in the car and is it like a normal amp with the pre out of rca leads and such and such was wondering if i could change it for the vibe one i have lieing about?

or would i have to route a full sound system cable from the battery to the amp rcas to the amp from the hu and so on i do have a equalizer could this be used to alter the settings for the standard bose system?

No it's completely bespoke with a dingle huge connector housing all the feeds in & out

The Bose speakers are also only 1.5ohm impedance so driving them with a normal amp you'd need to ensure it is 2ohm stable otherwise it will overheat.
