Do all Audi A3's have chains or do some have cambelts?
depends on model number of engine.
what engine what age? I cant think of any that has a chain but give us more info..
CCZ engine in my 2009 2.0 TFSI car has chain.
I have the same CCZA engine & it'd be nice to know for definite. Are you certain, as I read elsewhere that some engines have both Chain & Belt?
Edit: it seems you're correct - just checked on another forum.
The car i'm looking at or should i say i've just bought is an Audi A£ 2.0 FSI Sport
It's a non-Turbo then? What year is it?
None turbo and is 2004
Pretty sure there's the Cambelt that you replace and is connected to the crankshaft, then there's a camchain which connects the two cams together.
As above, your 2004 A3 2.0 FSi non turbo has both a timing belt and a timing chain.
Belt from Crankshaft - waterpump - camshaft
Chain from exhaust cam to inlet cam.
Only the belt is a service item that should be changed at a set interval (60-75,000miles (depends on who you ask) or 5 years). The chain only needs changing if you are experiencing problems with it.
My 1.6 FSI has a chain only.
