Hey, bought my S3 about a month ago now, and been trying to find out if the cambelt has been changed!
Finally found out that it hasnt! The car has done 95500 miles!

Audi dont seem to want to give me a straight answer as to when it needs to be changed becuase it was sold by them at 75,000 and never changed!

Just wondering if anyone can tell me when it needs to be done, and roughly how much it could be?
Thanks!

Cambelt, tensioner, tensioner damper, water pump... don't accept anything less...

The book says 115k which is utter rubbish!!! 60k-70k is the window of opportunity in my book, if Audi say different then they aren't worth going too..

At nearly 96k I would get it done ASAP!... A friend had 98k on his S3 and was told by Audi that it didn't need doing.... needless to say the timing belt went and required a new head and labour intensive (and expensive) rebuild... they didn't change the damper and the engine developed a ringing type of rattle... turned out the tensioner damper had failed and he was lucky the timing belt didn't slip a ****** the head again... Audi didn't change it!!!

Make sure you get the lot done mate....

Four rings guys are awesome, I used them before, but I don't think they cover Bristol :noway:

Thanks very much for your help guys! Think i have been hearing that metalic whining noise that you mentioned could be the tensioner dampers! Better get on it straight away! Rather spend my money elsewhere on the car but its gotta be done! thanks again!

£280 at a specialist, and you know that they are clued up properly in what they are doing.

Cheers guys this has just helped me out no end. Was asking pretty much the same question.
