Cam belt or chain?

Hello.

Does my 2005 A8 4.0l tdi have a cam belt or chain. And which ever it has at what mileage should it have been done, or need doing.?

Chain ,not sure what mileage they need replacing though.

Is it just an old wives tail that chains don't need changing.?

not really they do stretch and wear, I had am mk4 Golf v6 4 mo with chain and VW say it shouldnt need changing until 150,000
