My car was in at audi today for a alternator pully to be replaced under warrenty, So i thought id get cam belt done at the same time so when it went in this morning i asked them to quote me before they fitted it as they already had the alternator off i thought it might be cheaper.

so when they rang i nearly passed out when they wanted a further £460 for the cam belt kit and labour.....you guys dont pay that much do you???

I want it done but not for that price, So i argued the toss to see if i could reduce it......

    started off at £460

I complained about audi parts being unreasonable and I refused to pay for the pullys as they are under warrenty, so why should i pay for new ones! they reduced to £420

they rang me back and knocked a further 15mins labour and £10 for a hex bolt or sumthing they reduced to £387

Then they said they would pay for the tensioner and the V-belt as long as i pay for the labour and the belt, plus some small parts they wanted £197

By this time i was stuck in my ways and said it didnt matter id get it done else where, they said ok but then 2 hrs later rang me back and offered me it for £180 once again i told them no,

by this time i think they must have changed it already and relised i didnt want it as they said £140 plus vat- i held out!!

I complained a little more and guess what i settled at £85 plus VAT all in for every thing changed- total saving £355!

Well done 1- Nil to customer, I would have settled long time ago but you did great to get it down to that... i agree though they must have retrospectively done the work and thought we'd better recoup something back...

Mucho :respekt: mate ! I ended up paying £700 plus change for the cambelt, water pump and V pulleys

Ive got to be honest well done but im sceptical when it comes to things like this and would be concerned that key parts had not been changed like tensioners ect in efforts to save money, or have they infact done any work wotsoever? Have they done a proper job??? LoL dont lose any sleep though...:icon_thumright:
