Cam belt change

Can i get this done cheaper. Audi just quoted me £579 in Vat for the cam belt change.......

I also need a full service @ £483, 4 new tyres, front pads and 2 new wipers.

This is going to sting my pocket.

does anyone know a good mechanic in Essex that can do the Cam Belt.

Does it have to be done at Audi or does it not matter for this?

whats a "full service"?

a 20k, 40k, 60K etc etc?

also, brake fluid, haldex oil, and haldex oil and filter are seperate to these and must be asked for as additional work.

Get any break parts from somewhere like www.eurocarparts.com or www.vwspares.co.uk and do it yourself, shop around for tyres and get the service done at an independant specalist. And next time get the ****** oil changed sooner.

ps. wiper blades from anywhere and diy them too 5 mins.

I'd hope you could get a cambelt, water pump, tensioner, etc, all done for something in the mid 300's by a specialist.

just had a bit of a touch. Called my mate who works at Audi in my area in Parts, i've been going there for years since i got my 1st S3. Told him my problem. I asked him if he knew a Audi Specialist. He said don't worry about that one of the guys will do it as a PJ. Private Job. Plus he said he will get the parts for a good price for me. He's going to give me a buzz back and to leave it with him.

How good is that. Inside source from one of the stealers. He's such a good bloke, last time i was there he gave me a MAF sensor and a Litre of Oil for nothing. The rest of them there are a bunch of /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/swear.gif.

£350 for a full cambelt change including all the parts at listers audi in worcester. although that might not help you living in Essex

Get the water pump changed at the same time as the cambelt.
I decided to get the water pump changed when the cam belt was changed, good job too, 2 fins on the water pump impeller had snapped off and were lying in the cavity where the pump sits. The machanic told me I was exteremely lucky that these fins did not move & block off a water-way.

Waterpump on these cars have a tendancy to /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/swear.gif up.
