I know this question has been asked before but reckon products and experience change over time so worth asking again...

My 2002 cabrio's black hood is looking patchy after some intense cleaning, what would you recommend to give a nice even intense black and then keep it that way?

Also has anyone got any views on the different application methods, eg spray, sponge or brush? I reckon if you spray then it's best to mask the surrounding trim and bodywork but still worry about overspray as it's b****y windy where I live!

Thanks all

We still favour 303 products, and in particular their Convertible Top Cleaner and High Tech Fabric Guard. Easy to use, highly effective, and the overspray does not cause any problems on adjacent surfaces if wiped off immediatey. If the hood is badly faded then you may need to consult a specialist restorer in order to find out about redying it, etc. :icon_thumright:

Thanks for the advice, I've decided I'm going down the Renovo route as I want the roof to be jet black again and this seems the most certain way of achieving that!

I used Autoglym fabric roof cleaner on mine, the roofs not that old but the sealer does seem to make the roof bead the water well

I used the autoglym cleaner and proofer before winter set in and topped it up with the proofer at least once more but it let me down badly and I ended up with mildew around the rear window area so wont use it again.

After trying various products the 303 range is easily the best, the cleaner is brilliant and the water just sits on top of the fabric
