Buying an 1.8T

New to the forum - first post!

Iam going to buy an A3 98 1.8t and I am asking here for engine issues that are common for most of this engines and on what I need to give attention?

That's a thread from the stickies dude. I know it for the S3, but many of the same common faults apply.

Look down the page for the 'common faults' section.

water pump is always a common prob on a3, just make sure the timing belt is changed if you do get it done!
