You want my opinion you have a bloody nice car mate.
250bhp, super smooth V6, get a nice exhaust for it. fit a piper cross filter, you probably have one of the very best gearboxes ever made as well.
You put it in sport mode, turn off you ESP and drop it off the launch control and keep your foot down hard and i bet you bottle out before the car does
Get an rnse and fbmfsw and all the other bits you want and enjoy a really nice car.
If you have doubts go drive some others, a ford and a Vauxhall maybe.. and i bet you get back in the 3.2 and think...This is a bloody excellent thing !!

I had a stainless system on my MK3 VR6 (on when I bought it so no idea what it was) and it sounded ace, when the revs hit the sweet spot you got a really nice rasp.

I know how you feel becuase i went through the same stage a while back but i just spent a pile of cash getting it how i wanted it because when it came to it you have to spend a lot more money to get something really better.
I have a S/S Remus and it just hits that spot where it sort of goes two tone as only a v6 can...And all my problems disapear...
I think that's what I need to do....Spend abit of money on it first before the mods...
V6 in a small car is special.
Have very fond memories of my Corrado VR6. Just wasnt much good at swallowing a pram, hence the Golf VR6.
In fact if the Mk5 R32 looked nicer I might have been tempted before the S3.
Ok the V6 is a heavy lump and sits too far forward but it didnt spoil my fun.
That said, Im loving the fizz bang shove in the back tunability of a turbo at the minute and have been in one 3 years now. Modern engine technology is making Turbo cars much more flexible with easy to live with accessible power.
Problem now is that big N/A cars are becoming a dying breed so you V6 boys will be joining us whether you like it or not!
An S3 is a better bet if you like turbo power delivery but in reality its going to cost £12k on top of your car to do that and i just dont think an S3 is £12k better.
I had a VR6 in the mid 90s with BBS alloys ! think they were about 175bhp but they were a lot lighter than the A3
Decided my next car is to be a S6 Avant. Hmmmm 5.2 V10

I am looking forward to it, nothing wrong with turbo's but its odd that even now an RS4 and S5 are N/A.
Its a typical diminishing return scenario.
Mate of mine p/xed a mint 4yr old E46 M3 with only 20K miles for a 10 month old E92 and had to put £29K to the deal.
Is it £29K more of a car??

Its an obvious pattern emerging, not a particularly great one for the enthusiast who wants a choice.
If you only need two seats...the men in Zuffenhausen will happily supply you a lovely 6 cylinder NA machine to appeal to the enthusuast.

Just come from a brand new one of the last mk5 r32 to a brand new s3 having had nothing but problems for 10months since new with the r32 which I am glad I got all my money refunded from VW as they couldnt fix the car. I love the s3 handles alot better & got used to the turbo noises over the loverly r32 exhaust
What was up with the R32?
Had a steering creek/groan when turning at low speeds & they replaced the following which didnt fix it.
Steering Rack (2nd One Fitted)
Just to name a few, plus while I had it the diff went, so did the wheel bearing & the build quality inside was worse than any car ive been in.
Its taken me from Jan 2009 till the last 2 weeks to get a full refund & I have had the worst customer service from VW than you can imaging from the selling retailer, VW Head Office, VW Finance, VW UK which I can honestly say I will not buy a VW again.

Had my fair share of problems with my MK5 Gti, got to be a right pain after a while.
To be fair, the dealer was pretty helpful on the whole. I also found VW UK good too, I had to reject a used Golf MK5 GTi before that, and when the dealer dragged its heels, VW UK stepped in and yanked their chain. Seemed to do the trick.
My S3 hasnt been perfect but so far nothing more than minor niggles that have been sorted without much fuss.
IMHO german `legendary reliabilty` is a bit of a myth in general these days, overtaken long since by the japs!
