    Hey all,

Are all of the 8p model bumpers universal fit? For example, will a 2006 front bumper fit on a 2004 a3? 2008 rear fit on a 2006 etc etc??

    Thanks,

    Jonathan

No to the front bumper as you have to change the bonnet as far as I remember plus the slam panel

Rear is a direct replacement as I put a facelift on my 04 A3

2004-2008 A3 (Standard/S-line) front bumper is a straight swap for 2006-2008 car. For a 2004-2005 car (split grille) it needs a bonnet too.
Slam panel only needs changing/modding if fitting an S3 front bumper.
2009 onwards front bumper on to a 2004-2008 car needs wings, bonnet, headlights, etc etc.

Any year rear bumper will fit any year A3/S3.

What the **** is a slam panel and why do you need to change it when upgrading from non-s-line to s-line on a pre-facelift sportback (so basically on a 2006-2008 model)? I understood only the bumper, fogs and fog grilles need replacing?

Its the bar that sits behind the bumper that tries to help in stopping you getting crushed in a front collision.
And you only have to cut or change it when going from non-S3 to S3. If you keep your non-S3 bar then the fog lights won't fit in properly.

ok cool, good to know! im guessing there is always the option to get a lower valance/spoiler to go onto the standard front bumper to save hassle?
