Does anyone know whether it's possible to get the P2P traffic shaping restrictions that BT put on their lines between 3pm an midnight disabled? Anyone spoken to BT and had this lifted?

you can hack the P2P with a discombobulator with stage3 hardware and a clocked continuum transfunctioner. Hardwiring it is easiest then input the code 'charlie uniform november tango' 3 times whilst whistling the imperial death march with your finger in your hoop.
Takes a while to get past all 27 firewalls but, it works

    Good luck

I've read online about people phoning up and getting the p2p restriction removed by upgrading their package but when I phone BT I just get connected to all the people who don't have a clue what I'm talking about! I was apparently then connected to the support specialists which was an Indian call centre and the guy there just kept asking me the same thing then running off to speak to his adviser for 15 mins till I hung up as was getting nowhere.

Ok, after an hour of speaking to India, the online chat service then a UK based centre I've got an answer. I need to change my broadband package. BT have rebranded all their packages and as I'm on an old one it had p2p traffic management. I've checked the documentation of all the new BT packages and none of them slow down or block P2P traffic any more.

Well I'm on the top package & I can assure you fella, that they do still block traffic during certain times, so they're talking ballshiviks as usual, probably same call center as Dell uses.

Well then you need to kick off because their documentation says nothing should be blocked, slowed down, or managed with their latest contracts taken out after February 2013.

Run a glasnost test to see if things are being managed.

I've just ordered BT Infinty on the new Ts and Cs for the exact same price I was paying for old school broadband. It gets fitted next Saturday so I'll be running traffic management tests once it's fitted and let you know.

All in for free weekend/evening calls, line rental, and Infinity broadband upto 40gb downloads (I average 14gb a month) is £35 a month.

I tried that but I get the ID 10T error.

Im currently with Plusnet - no traffic shaping here, on the unlimited package for £19 per month - this includes line rental.
Also, where I am they are using fiber to the cabinet - so download speeds are nice and quick.

Nice one, nearly as quick as Virgin...

We were looking to move house but I insisted to my wife that it can only be a 'Virgin' area or we aren't moving. Having super-fast Internet pays the bills, so she now understands ;)

Just woke up to an email saying I'm now 28gb into my 40gb limit! Think I'll need to upgrade to unlimited!

Sky / 02 unlimited for me. No shaping I can detect. Hopefully the fibre we are having installed now we are in a compatible area will allow decent speeds with all the other benefits. I'd use up 40 in under a week during normal use. Lol
