Hi chaps,

My car has been running very poor lately (poor starting when hot, lack of power and poor mpg). For future reference for people it turned out to be the temperature sensor. However, mechanic also noticed that there is a breather pipe under the engine covers that comes from the left head across to the right and goes into some device. This pipe has become brittle and cracked in several places. Does anybody know what the pipe does as the only symptom my car shows is a lumpty idle? Is it just a breather going into an idle stabilisation valve of some kind?

Second question - does anybody have a VAG p/n for this pipe?

Cheers in advance

Tom

that will be the crankcase/head oil pressure relief/breather to the pcv valve which draws a regulated amount into the intake, the only problem you will come across with this broken is oil bubbling out all over the engine bay, the pcv valve system is designed to burn of this oil that comes out as pressure is releaved so not to have large amounts of dirty oil trailing from your car

try ETKA or go to vw/audi dealer and locate the pipe on their parts software
