    Hi
I am sorry if this topic has been covered already but...
Im having some paint work done on my s3 and as the bonnet seems to get alot of stone chips i was wondering what people thought of bra's? Also i would be very greatful if anybody has any pictures.
Do they mark the paintwork? Scratch where they hook on?

    Thanks people

I was also looking at these, but came to the conclusion its just not worth it! no point in protecting 6inches of bonnet when the whole front bumper is open to it all.

    Look a bit gay aswell

The guy who did my tints does a cover in see through film,I can't remember what it's called but someone must have heard of it before. It looks good because you can't really see it well unless you're close and does a great job at protecting paint work

I actualy know people that do put cling film over the bumper and bonnet to drive to shows. Held in place with masking tape.

I wasnt planning on leaving it on all the time, Just for road trips to cornwal and track time.
I think i have heard of the film... i think the one i heard of was made by 3M???

Ha ha try finding something like that not made by 3M!!

As for the bra's Personally I think they look S*#T!

I have seen them used abroad & they not only look bad, the leave a noticeable line where the rest of the paint fades over time.

Not only that they scratch the paint due to grit getting under them!

    No thanks, not for me:sadlike:

it's not cling film, it's a much tougher see through sheet. Works a treat

Lets be clear on this, Bra's are for boobs, so unless your S3 has grown some, I would leave the bra off, it's more sexy without it.

back of top gear magazine, can;t find one to hand. they advertise for loads of expensive cars (porsche, ferrari etc) but the film needs to be UV neutral otherwise your bonnet will have brighter paint than the covered bit.
    not cheap though
    google is your friend.

In the mountain bike trade we use a clear tape that is about 1mm think and is hard to be seen, protects paint work a treat but is costly!!

Another form of clear tape is helicopter tape, google should bring up suppliers

Inn the biking trade you could also use mud guards (looks gay) and chain protetors with tensioners.

But this wouldn't look right on an S3 bonnet.

You'd really want to make sure its 100% dry before putting any bra on otherwise brown nipples might show in the future!!! :crying:

I'd imaging anything 1mm thick will cut out a few UV rays and the bonnet would be a different colour to the rest of the car in time. This might need more work than a few chips.

Personally I say no to bras they are made to get in the way, be bare :asskicking: !!!

That S3 looks like someone put half a tent on the car and gave up :meeting: .

On my Boss's Noble M400 he has the 3M Protection Film, which covers the areas most likely to get hit from chips, bumper, front bonnet, sills and air intakes. He also had his car resprayed with some sort of paint that has build in protection/armourfend like qualities so trying to chip it would mean getting a chisel out, if you're doing 150+ in Le Mans then it makes sense.

Quite few companies do it Ventureshield or Paint Shield or something, eitherway you are looking at 3-400 quid and a half day to a day to get it one. They offer a money back guarantee if it 'yellows up', also make sure you have no bubbles or lips that can get grit in it as it will feck up big time.

The driver, I only put it on when the car is clean and dry,

Funny you should say that, yes i do it makes a tasty snack whilst cleaning under the bonnet and also keeps the nice and chilled!

Try Autobra.co.uk thats where i got mine from, but someone on ED38 was selling them cheap.
