Does any one know if there are stronger boot struts for the avant boot lid?

I've not tried any other struts.

Any way to find out the strength of them?

Is it the same part as on the B5 Passat? The ones on the wife's estate seem very resilient and reliable after 13 years of use.

I suspect just buying new ones will make a huge difference.

They will but I'd rather get something that's stronger and new, then new and find out they can't take the weight I'm about to put on my boot.
