Classic case of faulty trunk catch.

The luggage compartment light switch is incorporated in the catch assembly, so only option is to replace it, and all will be well.

Apologies for bumping an old thread but this is the exact same issue I am having. My dash reports the boot as always being open and the boot light no longer works.

I've only picked the car up today so can someone explain in la-mans terms what bit I need to purchase? If possible can someone give me a rough idea of how much the part costs as well?

    Legend :)

Is that a generic part for all b5 a4's. I believe I have the facelift model and am unsure how it differs entirely from the original.

    it fits both.

However the microswitch itself is only £10 new from the dealer...

Is the micro switch contained in the catch itself or is it a separate entity?

Replaced the boot catch today and it solved my problem :D I did have to modify it slightly though as it was slightly different to my original one.

    Cheers for the advice :)
