As above, i like to play my music loud and with lots of BASS but havnt been recently because when i do the left side of the boot is rattling, when the music is going you can feel where the speaker is and clearly where the rattle is coming from, actually when you hold the area down abit it does not rattle.

question is does anyone have any suggestions to cure this.

    Cheers

is it the boot lid that is rattling or something in the panel where the Bose sub is?

sound deadener doesn't make it quieter it helps absorb the sound vibrations and keep the sound inside the car where you need it.

Sound deadener can help reduce the rattle a bit if you apply it to the panel it will add a bit of mass to it, stopping it from rattling. There are other methods as well like acoustic foam panels which if put in place may eliminate the plastic rattle sound against something.

Before you go blaming the BOSE or buy soundproofing open up the boot whilst the bass is thumpin' - I had the same problem and it turned out to be a loose 1/2" screwcap cover in the plastic around the boot interior. If it is the same issue you are seeing, pop it out, stick a little foam in and pop the cap back on.

get a roll of stinger or dynamat...don't use the cheap **** as you will have to double or triple lay it down to get the same effect, thus adding anymore unwanted extra weight to the car. that should sort it out! i'm gonna do my doors and boot. not upgrading the bose. but it will keep the sound tight and stop any unwanted rattles.

On my previous S3 the bose sub grill cover was loose. I tightened this up with a torx bit and it resolved the problem.

    May be worth a look?

its was a big audio install 147db! hence the dynamat. but i always use dynamat weather its to isolate rattles, unwanted exhaust sound etc
its the best sound deadning on the market!

By the looks of things, £3k on soundproofing! i wouldnt dare!

Yea its definatly what i said above just need to get round to fixing it, dont really know how to get into the side panel though without what looks like taking the whole boot apart.

Any1 got any pointers? pics would help.

    Cheers

right then here goes first remove boot mat and parcel shelf get a screw driver in the gap like this
    [IMG]
do that on both sides the clips are there then push it forwards a bit like this
    [IMG]
    then lift it up
    [IMG]
    remove rubber
    [IMG]
    up to about here
    [IMG]
next remove boot light or just get it out of the hole like this
    [IMG]
get a screw driver in the gap like this
    [IMG]
then it should be like this (see my soundproofing)
to put back togther do this push it into place like this
    [IMG]
when fitting the centre bit make sure that the bottom lugs go into these pins here in red on my car
    [IMG]
then push down hard when its lined up
    [IMG]
    job done
    [IMG]
