Hi, when i shut the boot from a height the lock doesn't catch but if i do it slightly open and keep pressure on it it shuts fine, its like the bump stops are to strong?

Check the seal is fitted ok, also check the lock catch flicks across manually to lock position & holds when you pull on it.
